Go2Santa Team Report from Lapland- 4 Day Trip

Day One - Arrival to Lapland

At Aerlingus check in desk there was a elf called Mia that was there entertaining the kids she was with us for the 4 nights doing face painting, learning the kids elf songs the kids loved her.

We Flew with Aerlingus from Dublin airport to Kittila airport in Lapland Kittila airport is located north of the Arctic Circle and the flying time is just over 3hours. On the flight the elf was singing songs over the intercom and doing face painting kids and adults were having a great time.

When we arrived into Kittila airport we met with our other elf that looked after us for our transfers (Christmas Cake) we went into a building beside the airport and got fitted with our snow suits, snow boots, terminal socks and gloves, all you need to bring yourself is a hat and scarf, then we got on bus for a 45 minute transfers to our hotel which was called the Hotel Saaga 4* this hotel had a spa with pools, steam room and sauna, also had a buffet restaurant and bistro bar, the hotel offers ski in and out service there is a gondola just 5-7 mins walk from the hotel.

We checked into our rooms and headed straight to the bar for a drink then had dinner then we headed just 5 mins walk from hotel to a local bar.

Day Two - Search for Santa

We had breakfast we met Santa’s helpers. This was the highlight of our trip, we arrived and went on a Reindeer ride, then we headed into some of the workshops we had gingerbread biscuits and we could decorate them, then we went to elf school, we done a Husky ride and then went into Santa’s workshop where all the presents are made we also went snowmobiling, also went into the Elf’s house and had a guided tour even saw their bedrooms and listened to stories, we also saw elf’s working in the busy post office sorting out all the letters then we went and the had a private meeting with Santa himself.

We had lunch at a Hotel close by Santa’s Village.

Late that afternoon we returned back to our hotel and had dinner in a restaurant in a local Village. There is a hotel shuttle bus that guests can use with a charge.

Day Three - Snowmobiling & Visit to the Snow Village

Today we got up and had breakfast, which we must say had a great selection & variety. At 10am we took a two-minute walk to the offices and headed Snowmobiling in the Wilderness, we both opted to drive our own, however an adult can also get on the back or alternatively go in the sleigh where they provide blankets.

This was an amazing journey through the forest, the scenery was breath-taking, we stopped for photo opportunities and when we reached the top we sat in a tent, where they made a fire and have hot berry juice.

After this we drove back to base. This was a really enjoyable trip.

Afternoon Visit to the Snow Village

This afternoon visited the Snow Village, a magical world of ice and snow. Made up of 20 million kilos of snow and 350,000 kilos of crystal-clear natural ice are used to build the spectacular Snow Village. The theme of the Snow Village changes every year. This year was the Game of Thrones, Wow this was amazing. The Snow Village consists of a Snow Hotel with snow rooms and suites, Ice Restaurant, Ice Bar, Ice Chapel, a slide for the kids and an ice artwork to explore. After our visit to the snow village we returned to the hotel.

The morning and evening are free for guests to relax in their hotel or opt for an excursion.

Day Four - Hotel Visit & Souvenir shopping

This is a free day for guests. We visited the Ski resort of Levi where we visited a hotel & the different apartments. Levi is built up with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and the Christmas markets. We went souvenir shopping which was much cheaper in comparison to where we had visited.

This evening we had the Festive dinner in the hotel along with all the guests, and Santa surprised everyone with a visit and some songs. (Same Santa the kids seen on Day 2)

Again, Mia the Elf entertained the kids long after her hours, I think she was still going at 1am. You could really see how much she loved what she does.

Day Five - Home Time

This morning we had breakfast and packed for our Journey home. We departed the hotel at 13:45 so plenty of time if the guests want to do something in the morning. Airport check-in was efficient with no chaos.

Again, Mia the Elf entertained the kids on the return flight.

We can’t recommend this trip enough, it’s truly a once in a lifetime magical experience.
